From multiple forums it seems that there is a common problem relating to updating to Nero 8 ( and previous updates as well)
Message box says " Cannot update MSI Engine. Please update manually " I suspect that this is not a valid function of Nero 8 and that updates require Whole of Application updates when they are released....who knows????.....anyone out there shed some light on this common problem please...running Vista etc

if the Version Numbers are the same as what has been posted on the web site you are fine, But also there are 2 versions Number's of the nero8 installer,one installer is the english only and diffrent independent language versions and the all language installer version with a diffrent number, but they are both the same. See Bellow-

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------They are both the same software, the 8.1.13 Version has some updated GUI Language fixes, but it is the same as the 8.1.1.0.
I would bet you have one of thoes installed, Just download the All Language Version 8.1.13 and it should take care of any update problems you might be getting. Good Luck, let me know how it turns out.

Cannot update MSI Engine
Smart Start shows numerous updates as available, but any attempt to update results in above message. Downloaded latest posted update file from the website and ran manually, but the same updates show again. So I guess the updates are really not available? I am running XP with SP2.

Hello,
Just download the Nero 8 update and install, The Update feature of Nero does the same thing, it will download the whole update per cab file, But there are problems.
The most stable way to update nero is to allways download the update from the nero site and run it, they are both the same, but you wont run into problems with the full update package from the site.
