Tech Support is Terrible

I bought nero 8 ultra on 2/05/2008 from nero's website. I installed it the next day. I get the following errors and warnings in the event viewer when I use the program:

4 instances of:

I submitted 4 requests for tech support (2 on 2/6/2008, 1 on 2/7/2008 and 1 on 2/8/2008) with no reply except that they received the request.

I contacted asknet (the online sales agent for nero) today (2/13/2008) about these complaints. They replied and stated that they sent a copy of my complaint to nero's customer service department.

I googled these problems and found out that many others get the same errors and warnings with no solutions.

I give nero's tech support a very poor rating. "

Nero tech support contacted me after I contacted asknet. They sent me a program to run on my computer to get info about the errors and my computer setup. I sent nero the results and they stated that they were able to duplicate the problem. They stated that it would be fixed in a future update. As for the windows updates and drivers all mine are current.

After numerous emails to nero and asknet requesting a refund I am still getting the runaround.   Asknet states that it does not give refunds and nero states that the bugs will be fixed in a future update.

Do not buy nero 8!!!

re: problems

I am presently using nero 6.  It works fine with no errors.  I just wasted my money on the nero 8 bloatware.

Do not buy nero 8!!!

re: problems

I was having the same problem. On 2 different computers after installing Nero 8.

Event ID: 257

Timed out sending notification of target device change to window of "WndClass_CWinDrivesNotifyerHelperWindow"

Go to Start->Nero 8->Nero Toolkit->Nero Scout

Or wherever Nero Scout is... run it... and select the option to turn it off...

Now that's not enough because its service still gets loaded and runs anyways... So go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services and stop "NMIndexingService" then set the startup type to "Disabled".

Did your Event ID: 257 go away now? You will get a bitching message about not being able to start the service if you reboot... But hey... 1 message vs... 100s...
