These New Programs are Ram Eaters Watch Out Old PC Users

posted by gccradioscience at 2 years ago

I am not going to install Nero 8 cause I don't think I have enough RAM to run the program. I would like to keep Nero 7 and just get the plugins I need.   I might consider using Power 2 Go 6 for DVD authoring and burning cause the memory limited on this computer. Nero is nice for new (bought from the store) computers with Windows Vista Basic and Premium Edition and also I have a friend who has Vista Basic Edition that can run Power 2 Go 5.5 without extra RAM.   Nero 8 I am sorry to say is not for everyone on the computing list even for someone with a limited computer budget that has limited amounts of RAM.

I thought that Nero 7 was going to be my last burning software, but it seems not to be.     If you like Nero and don't mind   slow speed then use Nero 8 Ultra Edition, but I am very limited in money and resources so I am going to get Power 2 Go 6 for my DVD authoring.    I can see one day that Nero will come out with Nero 9 Ultra Edition and will require 512 Megs of RAM for a minimum to run the program.     Then 10th Edition will       probably require at least 1 GB of RAM to run the burning software and will be for Vista only.   I feel that these Nero programs are memory (RAM) guzzlers and uses up a lot of precious resources and CPU as well as making coasters of DVD +R discs and CD-Rs making unsafe to dispose in the trash to hurt the planet and enviroment.   Most CD-Rs should be a RW type to save on the planetary resources and most bad CD-Rs end up in our Virginia Beach landfill called Mount Trashmore cause these RAM guzzling programs not doing the right thing.

Also I have another thing, DVD authoring and burning should be Free just like CD burning software. I see everytime I get a OEM copy of CD burning software and most

PCs have DVD burners they don't come with good beginners DVD burning movie software which should be good for just home movies not making professional DVDs

DVD-RW is going to get old soon, real old maybe obsolete and become mostly uncompatible with HD formats.   Blu Ray and HD-DVD should be the new premium options for someone whose able to use it and can afford it.     Right now I don't need Blu Ray disc authoring at this time my little PC cannot and will not handle this option cause alot I mean alot of RAM will be required to run and use these new discs and more CPU speed.   Also Blu Ray authoring should not be added unless the personal computer is able to do it.   My computer can be only upgraded to2 GB of RAM.   Windows XP only accepts 3 GB's of RAM at the max.    I look at Blu Ray, fine it only is good for a Vista based operating system only as well as the copy protection which my monitor is not compatible.
