Reduce speed on CD write |
Have LG CD-RW with 52X write speed. Nero Express 6.6.1.15 always starts up with write speed drop-down menu allowing me only 2 choices, maximum or 52X. This invariably produces flaky or bad copies (though sometimes Nero thinks they are OK). After making the usual bad copy or 2 the drop-down menu (if and when it feels like) opens up and allows me to choose write speeds right down to 1X. I can then make 100% perfect copies every time (choosing speeds usually 8X to 16X depending on media.) How can I force Nero to allow me to set (or lock) a nice low write speed (say 8X) right at its start-up and avoid wasting so many blanks? Seems I had no troubles this way with older versions of Nero. Have tried using Nero "Drive Speed " before copying but with no effect. The drop-down menu still does its own thing. Appreciate any help on this (or a good psychiatrist.) Thanks, John.

speed reduce
i`m sure if you go to nero vision and click on More then configure you can adjhust speed if not try going to WWW.afterdawn.com and down load g-spot a free firmwire that does loads of trouble shooting and offer`s good solutions Good luck Tony.T
Drive Speed
I've looked into this myself, even to the point of talking to our technical director, and he and I agree that this has got to be a firmware issue on your drive, not due to anything Nero's doing. Nero will just check your drive's speed options and list those for you. If 52x is all you're getting, that's all your drive's firmware is allowing.
It COULD be some sort of weird, unknown technical glitch, but likely it's the drive. Maybe there's a dipswitch you could engage or some sort of firmware modification you could make?
Best of luck.

Firmware Upgrade
Look in your manual to find the LG website to download a Firmware Update for your LG burner, you will need the model number.
If none are listed in the manual, here is the LG website:
http://us.lge.com/index.jhtml
Type your model number in the Search window, or you can click on Support, then Downloads and follow the prompts.
After you download the update, just run it and it will update the Firmware (software) in your LG drive.
It could be is that your burner is newew than Nero 6, and Nero 6 doesn't support that drive fully. You could try downloading and installing the Nero 7 trial and see if that fixes the problem if the firmware update doesn't work with Nero 6.
Good luck,
Dan
