LiquidTV / TiVo - Do your homework first!!!!

posted by WorldWarrior at 3 years ago

I am from Canada and I'm trying to resolve my issues with LiquidTV now. Be careful, do some research before your purchase. I built a new system just for this, it is my home media server/PVR. I bought the best and gave it 3TB of drive storage to hold my new files. The day it arrived it was all built and waiting for LiquidTV , I was like a kid at Christmas.

My video card is a All-in-Wonder™ HD card, the Nero web site recommended a card with at least 256mb video memory on board. I choose it because it also had a native HDMI port. The USB capture device provided in the retail box was not recognized by the LiquidTV software it wants to use my cards onboard capture device. Meanwhile my system shows the USB capture device is installed and functioning correctly. The software does not even give you the ability to choose the capture source (or its not functioning correctly). And during the set up process it does not ask you who is your media provider it just asks your region based on postal/zip code and comes back with a lot of channels not necessarily yours. If it doesn't do all media providers then they should tell you who they support before you buy, it is not evident on the web site that I can find.

There is more but I do not want to trash it. Once it gets set up like other Nero Products it is most likely just what the doctor ordered, I just want to say it is simply not plug and play . So do your home work before you buy it, the average home computer guy could be up to a challenge if they are not ready for it.
