Nero vision - Bluring pixels |
Does anybody Edit DVD movies from a Sony DVD camcorder?
After finalinzing a DVD movie in my SONY cam, I import the DVD into Nero Vision ..make a movie. When the movie is played in make a movie, the movie is blured. If there is any movement during the filming of the movie in the SONY camcorder, the pixels are blured in Nero when watching and editing. I thought it might just be in the editing of the movie and Burned it to DVD thru Nero vision and tryed to play it in my dvd player. It was still blurring. I also put my SONY DVD disc into the DVD player and it worked fine.... No bluring of the pixels.
In order to go around this, I have been recoding video to nero digital.
and importing the movie back into Nero Vision, make a movie.
After recoding video, it works fine. I find after recoding, the quality
lost.
Thanks
Eben
Quality
Ebenp,
The blurring could be the result of frame rate introduced at any stage. Putting that aside, in theory, editing in the digital domain should not suffer any loss. Of course if TRANS-CODING (not re-coding) is taking place, loss might occur.
For USA TV, the frame rate in Nero is 29.97 (or 30) frames per second. if the frame rate was set higher in an attempt to yield the highest quality, you could introduce blurring and other artifacts.
Instead of shooting for the greatest quality, consider these options for standard definition video.
MPEG-2
720x480 resolution
29.97 frames per second
Bit-rate of 5MB/second
Another thing that would be very important for us to know... What is the file format out of the camera. I have already gathered this is a DVDR burning camera. So I assume its creating a Video_ts folder on-disc and the whole enchilada right? so you can pop the cam-disc right into a DVD player.
If this is the case, I should I am pretty sure most Vision users are not editing actual DVD’s in Vision. They are editing MPEG, AVI, WMF, MOV and creating a DVD out of it.
I don't have Nero in front of me but You might be able to use RECODE or Vision to EXPORT the Video_ts to an MPEG2 file running at 720x480, 29.97fps, 5 to 8 mb per second. (constant compression, not variable).
Once that's done, check the quality and import it into Vision for editing.
Once editing is complete, make a DVD with the same quality standard discussed above.
Also, turn off Progressive options for your tests. Progressive scanning is great but could contribute to blurring or combing while panning or movement.
TIP: Create a video file of the messed up video and post it on YouTube. Then embed the link in a Blog. That way we can see what you see. The quality is better than the flash option in my.nero and in this case, I think quality is good idea.

After recording on a DVD that is in my Sony Camcorder, I finalize DVD with my camcorder. I take the disc out an put in my DVD drive connected to my computer. I import Video into Nero Vision " Make a movie. ( Before I put video in computer, I check with DVD player connected to my tv first to make sure it plays and there are no errors with finalization process... ) When in the Make a movie editing mode, the video plays, but any time there was motion ( panning from one subject to another) the video would blur. I have been having to recode video and reimport into make a movie. The video looks ok but there is loss of quality...( Maybe because of all the recoding that is done... I recode to digital and recode to DVD after editing...maybe thats why I am loosing quality.. I am trying to skip the first recode)
Up until the last major upgrade in January, these videos would not even import into Make a movie. Only the titles would import. With the January upgrade, I can now at least import the Raw DVD video. However the distorted or blurred video occurrs while in the edit mode and burned edited movie to DVD.
Yes, I loose quality when Recoding DVDs. There is a big difference in quality on DVD that came right out of my Camcorder vs Recoding and playing that Video. I choose the highest possible settings when recoding.
Questions
Hmmmm. I don't quite understand. You're getting blurring off a raw video capture in Nero Vision? Or, once you edit the raw capture, THEN you get blurring when you export the video to a standard mpeg or avi file? And you're saying that recode solves the problem, but you lose quality, is that right?

Response to Quality
I have looked in manuals and on the internet and have not been able to confirm specs about resolution or frames per second. The specific camcorder details could be found at http://www4.dealtime.com/xPF-Sony-DCR-DVD301
Yes, your are correct, it does create a Video_ts folder on the disc. The camera "finalizes" the DVD and it can be played in any DVD player.
I copy the Video_ts file to my hard drive and import it into make a movie. That's when I get the blurred pixels. So, I have been TRANS CODING to nero digital and reimporting. I incorporate my videos with pictures to make a movie. I export made movie as a DVD video_ts file to my external hard drive and us my D-link media player to watch on TV.
I tried to export to an MPEG2 file. There was no comparison to the original DVD. The quality was significanly lost.
Maybe nero vision is not designed to edit DVD! Although you would think that if it allows
one to import the file into vision make a movie then it would play or edit just like a AVI,MPEG... ETC.
Maybe this should be added to the wish list.
I guess I will continue to TRANS-CODE to nero digital before video is edited in vision make a movie.
I will try to post a clip of the blured pixels when I get a Youtube account.
Thanks
