NERO R.I.P.

posted by AmbushMartyr at 2 years ago

Ive bought Nero 8 ultra edition on DVD a few weeks ago and installed it only to find out the software is so bugged it refuses to burn anything at all!

If this wasnt bad enough, I decided to get some updates to cure the problems only to find out that the update i DLed completely uninstalled my current version off the DVD!

Now the update i have is almost 1/3 the size of the DVD I bought and still refuses to burn certain media that has never been a problem to burn with before!

Is it me, or is NERO become a completely downgraded company offering incomplete and bloatware? What happened to this company? Nero 6 and 7 were some of the best burning software on the planet, now with 8 its almost as if they went backwards in their thinking and have created nothing more than software thats basically unusuable!

Ive never seen so much crap inplemented into 8 that its literally a web of code thats almost impossible to get rid of! The only thing I ever wanted form NERO was the ability to burn DVD,CD content in the forms of Movies,Music,Games,Data,Pictures and thats it! Now I have to contend with a indexing service that isnt needed, and a host of crap code that infiltrated my system and screws with everything!

Cant NERO just make a slimmed down version of the things I asked for and quite pushing extra stuff i absolutely dont want or need?

Ive spent over $60+ on this product and still havent been able to resolve most of the burning problems I still have even after reading the FAQs and emailing NERO themselves!

I think its safe to say that Im ready to find another burning software that lets me have the choice to install features i want and not features i dont need! Lesson learned and until NERO gets it right, Ill be supporting something else in the meantime.

Good luck to those who are still having troubles, and still arent getting the software theyve grown to love and have spent hard earned money on!

NERO R.I.P.

Are you kidding me?

Heres to Mr.Chuck999.....

You can ...
Run the install
Click Custom
Uncheck everything
Check Nero Burning Rom
INSTALL

AND...

Still get stuck with a craptacular indexing service ya dont need....

AND....

Having NERO Scout be a total intolerable so called feature aggravating you

AND....

A lot of other BLOATWARE you will absolutely NEVER USE!

Now onto pcbugfixer

How could you even possibly suggest i have a pirated version of this product when it took a real serial key to even set up this disoriented craptacular webblog type outlet Im using atm? Who would be that stupid to even try to start with?

As for virus and other spyware,adware,anti-trojan suites and so on...thanks, but your preaching to the choir here bro. I know this stuff and its not just for NERO either but a host of other software including games that anti-virus suites can screw with, so thats a gimme.

I paid $60 for this product only to have the craptacular update UNINSTALL the whole damn thing and replace it with a version 1/3 the DVDs size, how in the hell can that be? I woulda been better off just buying a damn serial key and Dling the damn update instead of BUYING a complete DVD packaged product thats will never stay installed due to the stinking update!!!

Its amazing how far people will go to defend software that absolutely has hit a brick wall. Dont get me wrong NERO USED to be great, now its a waste of money, time, and importantly it now shoves features on you that you absolutely do not want!! '

Until NERO can get it right like back in the day, why bother with it anymore as it seems the end result is the money and evidently not customer satisfaction or for that matter giving customers a CHOICE in what they want installed on their PC!!

NERO simply FAILS in this, and until they change things, someone else is getting my money.

Good Luck to those who are still being handed propaganda with their purchase!

Installation Issue - No 1 User problem

G'Day Folks,

I have been using Nero for many years (7+ I think) and it was either 3.0.0.0 or 3.0.7.1 that I first used back in  1999 or 2000.

As long as I have installed the Nero Software on my customers PC's, I have always DISSABLED the running (active TSR) Anti-Virus and Internet Security Programs.

Doing so before you load the CD or click on the downloaded installation file is very important!

That is to say I only do so when I have the original or genuine Manufacturers CD or downloaded installation file - and NEVER with an illegal or pirated copy as most of these are infected with Trojans, Viruses etc.

This action of disabling the Anti-Virus and Security TSR's (Security suits have Anti-Virus built in) is that some codes in Nero may or are incorrectly identified as a  virus when they are not and some Anti-Virus programs then block the installation of the Nero Software Suite.

Most Internet Security Suites and individual Anti-Virus programs allow you to disable or temporarily suspend the running program, and then after the Nero installation is complete, to re-enable them.

The only program from Nero that I think is a pain in the “Rear” is the InCD, which has had loading (TSR start resident) problems on most of the installations I have performed and at times needed to un- and re-install this component several time before it loads correctly.

I did have an old post on my web site relating to this issue as far back as the older InCD versions and found some relevance to the "An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C004D681 in VxD VFAT(01) + 0000B8ED. This was called from 0028:C1831A60 in VxD Voltrack(04) + 00000430. It may be possible to continue normally." Issue Ref: on  www . pcbugfixer . com/ news/ #nero

The problem with the InCD has plagued me for many years where 60% of the time on some systems it works all the time and on the remaining 40% and I don’t think it will ever work correctly. Mind you some of these issues can be or are CD or DVD Hardware related and can be influenced by the Mother Board (main board) you use and may be Hardware compatibility issues.

Anyway, THE IMPORTANT POINT IS “To disable the Internet Security Suite and or Anti-Virus programs before you start the Nero Installation !!!!!!!

I Suggest you un-install the current Nero installation, re-boot, Disable the Security / Anti-Virus programs and install Nero again !

Post the result of the re-installation please.

Also have problems with Nero 8

After investing a few weeks of reading manuals and writing emails I also had to go back to Nero 6.

By the way, I make DVDs of several video files with subtitles and I have not been able to get the subtitles to show in the final DVDs.

I recode each video file and saved it to the Hard disk. Then I use Nero Vision to import the video files from the hard disk and make the menus and burn the DVDs.

The subtitles appear on the saved video versions but go away when I burn the DVDs with Nero Vision

Anyone has solved this problem?

Nero 7 same story
I could not agree more, Nero 6 is in my opinion the best burning software, after installing a new burner bundled with Nero 7 essentials, I've uninstalled the 7 & going back to 6. WHY oh WHY can't they make their cd's so you can explore them and pull out what you want with out going through the huge waste of time install? All I wanted was newer version of InCD.  All that extra garbage is unbelievable I'm attending the funeral as well. R.I.P. Nero
