Newest Update for Nero 7 Released Tomorrow |
Get it at www.nero.com on May 22! Here's the text of the press release, to answer all questions you might have:
--
Nero, leaders in digital media technology, announced today that Nero 7 is the first multimedia suite to be certified for both authoring and playback of the Advanced Video Codec High Definition Standard (AVCHD), allowing users to create and enjoy their AVCHD content in one solution. AVCHD is a new recording format introduced by Sony® and Panasonic® that uses an MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video codec that allows for greater compression efficiency and higher quality audio and video capturing.
By achieving certification for authoring and playback of AVCHD, Nero 7 has successfully passed the stringent quality standards and guidelines as outlined by Sony® and Panasonic® to ensure the best user experience for AVCHD. Certified authoring capabilities found in Nero 7 allow users to add menus, create chapters, edit video, and much more, while certified playback ensures that they can enjoy their video directly on their PC, or through consumer devices such as the PlayStation 3® or Blu-ray Disc players. In addition, Nero 7 certified AVCHD authoring means users can encode their non-AVCHD content into H.264 allowing it to also be played back on Blu-ray disc players.
“We are extremely excited that Nero 7 is the first multimedia suite to be certified for both authoring and playback of AVCHD,” said Charly Lippoth, CTO, Nero AG. “This achievement once again affirms Nero’s leadership in digital media technology, as well as our commitment to quality and industry standards.”
An AVCHD certified version will be available with the next online update of Nero 7 at www.nero.com.

Workaround for 7.9.6.0 Can't find Nero.msi error
Thanks to Hotstepper and others for the tip about extracting Update 7.8.5.0 and pointing the 7.9.6.0 setup at Nero.msi from 7.8.5.0 when it pukes. This worked for me on Windows 2000 Pro and should work on XP SP2.
I was about ready to start banging my head aginst the wall when a little voice said, "Go and check the forum (AKA blog)..."

not installable under WinXP
Install Update 7.9.6.0
1. Extract ( with WinRar or WinZIP ) the last Update ( 7.8.5.0 ) in any Folder
2. Run Update 7.9.6.0
3. For the NERO.msi, look on the extractet Update
Thats all
re: not installable under WinXP
I had the same problem. Before I got a response on my support ticket I tried uninstalling Nero and then reinstalling from the full download. I had to reenter my serial number but it worked!
I hope they fix this problem for future updates!

Not Installable under Windows XP
If version 7.9.6.0 just would install under Windows XP SP2 :-(
I always get the message "nero.msi" could not be found and when I select it in the temporary directory on my HD I'm told that it is an invalid Nero7 installer!
Online installer tells that the necessary MSI-Engine could not be installed.
After I installed the latest one available for WinXP (3.1 something) it still didi not work. I assume it was compiled using the Engine 4.0 which is available fro VISTA only!!
Hopefully there will be an update soon to fix that.

7.8.5
Hi, I had thought I wouldn't need 7.8.5 any more so I promptly deleted it. When I go to the site to get it it's no longer available. Should I extract 7.9.6 and maybe get the msi there?
Or uninstall my 7.8.5 and then install 7.9.6 instead of an upgrade? This is so annoying!
